Last week

This week I had continue with my assignment for Anna B, It went well considering that again 3 members of my group was not in.

On Monday I had to create a case study for my assignment, the case study involved a electrical store getting feed back from customers about the system they use in there company, basically the reviews was not good and we had to take points from them to make there system better. Then we had to apply this to our own knowledge and assignment to gather information from teachers and staff that look after these laptops.

Earlier that day I was rushing to get to college early as I thought I had an interview for the assignment but was mistaken due to miss communication, in my group.

Later on the that day I had a lesson with Anna O By now we was getting to the end of her assignment and My project was looking really goodbye now I only need to catch up on a few things like changing coding so it works and changing a few of my designs and spelling mistakes, overall my teacher was very happy with the work I put in to this project over the weeks. when I went home that day I fell right asleep as the day was very tiring.

On Tuesday I missed my lesson for Maura as I overslept and my alarm did not go off so when I got to college I had a two hour break as lesson wasn't starting until 12:35, I then had another lesson with Anna O where I had an interview with my teacher to gather information for this assignment, meanwhile my team was working hard to make sure the questionnaire was finished and by the end thy had it done and filled out by a member of staff, I was really happy with my team and the way they got it done considering three people was missing. All that is left to do now is the presentation which needs to be completed by the time we get back from Easter holiday. At the end of the lesson we was greeted by Ella as she wasn't happy with the assignment we did before hand and told us to check it

On Wednesday we again was met by Ella in Maura's lesson to talk about her new assignment which the whole class found confusing, by the end though we made sense of it and by the time her lesson came round we was working on it and said it had to be due by Friday and I was finally getting it, with me lesson with Anna o I was again just catching up on work.

On Thursday I had a tracking lesson with Maura where she told me improvements.

On Friday I heard back from promoter to do a music video and was so happy In couldn't sleep then I came in to catch up on work

How can I improve
I can improve By Meeting it up with my team and communicating more.          

Whole new unit

Whole new unit

Last week I started a new assignment with anna B, this assignment is about created a database to allow people book laptops and other devices like tablets, cameras and phones., she also put us in to groups of six to work together, the group I' in consist of me, Shiraz, Catari, Kavinda, Brandon and Sydney they all wanted me to be the leader but I didn't really want to either way they chose me so I became it. because of this I had to assign everyone with a job to do, miss said if someone does not pull there weight we are allowed to sack them and to get a merit or distinction it is up to you but to pass it has to be a group effort, to gather more information on the project you must book an interview with teachers and let them fill out a questionnaire, this information is to be applied to your power point which she wants to see after half term. To start I put Brandon as scheduler, me and Shiraz in charge of interview and Catari and Sydney in charge of questionnaire and Kavinda in charge of communications and posts. so far so good  and we have our interview tomorrow with anna b to ask these questions, areas I could improve in is that the some of the team can be absent at times and I need to find a way to keep there attendance up through this project. the next day I had a catch up session with Maura and my assignment was due which I enjoyed as it was the first assignment I did on new laptop so I was excited the only issue I had as printing it but after I got that sorted I found the assignment great fun.

We also had a visit from Ella as she told us she will not  be in on Wednesday but gave us an assignment to do anyway,

on my two hour break I went subway and got a foot long sub as I had nothing to eat all that day, then I came back to hand in work For as I hadn't done before hand

The things I could of done better is maybe coming in to college for the rest of that week as I felt ill and not really up to it,

How I could improve is Trying in my best to come for the rest of the days than just being sick.

This week I tried my best to at least start Anna o’s assignment the coding was hard so I just focused on the design for now and planning how to do it.

For P4 I had to use my presentation from p2 and present it to the whole class, in that presentation I spoke about Multicultural Differences Engaging audience and positive language

 

The techniques I used for this is I took some time out of class to work on my speech and interpersonal skills I also redid the presentation and made it even simpler straight down to bullet points so my audience doesn’t get bored or confused on what’s on my PowerPoint and instead I made a Microsoft document and put all the information on the p2 presentation on there so I know what I’m speaking about I also studied on how to project your voice and be confident as it was my first time doing a presentation as I was bit nervous.

The techniques I think went well in this assignment was doing a separate presentation and working on my speech and making a separate word document to know what I’m speaking about,

The things that could have been better where I could have research a bit more of how to give a good presentation and although I did well I feel like I could have done better.

Overall I feel like this assignment was fairly easy and I had fun doing it. 

What I could Improve on

Is asking for help when it comes to coding as I do struggle with it allot.

this was the week where I had to brush Up on all my work that was due which was harder to do in certain lessons than others and in the mean time I had my merit work for Ella was referred for the second time and this point I was looking to give up on Ella and go for passes as IO wants getting anywhere in her class.

Also I was getting better with programming until I got my new assignment, which was due the first week back after half term and for the whole of this week I was stuck on this assignment

I got my second assignment for Luisa which was about creating a spread sheet and soon found that it linked with my work for Ella which was project planning, This assignment was about an enrolment worksheet on excel for a college which involved students, Enrolment, courses and total funding this assignment It was all done in class time  I also was settling into my new job and was finding trying to find time to do sleep go to gym and go studio with make my college work lack, I did have a couple hiccups with Anna o because of this and I was trying hard not for that to happen again.

Refferals

Referrals

 Had referrals for Ella and I was really struggling with her course I felt like I wasn’t getting enough help with it and the whole class felt like she wasn’t marking our and was just giving it back us. I didn’t know what to do so I spoke to my mum about it and she said that you need to tell the teacher how you’re feeling so I tried to but didn’t get anywhere with. Meanwhile I got my second Assignment for Anna B where we spoke about maintenance and decoding the Jargon, software Utilities, which I just about got in on time and a test Plan.

The improvements I could make is to not give up so easily when I do nit pass the assignment first time

Week 2 I got my first assignment for Anna O the one assignment I dreading so to solve this I asked for even more lesson and as I started to remember the programming off by heart I still didn’t understand it enough to do the assignment so I turned to my friends for help and they fully understood my struggle and decided to help me I got it all in and I was happy with my work

Then I got My assignment For Louisa which was about the use of excel I found this was pretty easy and found out later on that it was to get me ready for her second assignment for her But going back I had to speak about the definition of a spread sheet, Typical users, Manipulating data, data mining and complex problems I did this in about a week.

In P3 and M1 We had to speak about Communication barriers and overcoming them where I chose to write about. Background noise, Language differences, Lack of concentration, Lack of interest, Too much information, Cultural, Psychological and being late as I spoke about how it will be barrier

The techniques that worked was doing research and the assignment in class as it took me less time to do and gave me time to focus on other assignments and using publisher software as the specification says to make a leaflet and I did that the only way I know how and that is on publisher and using a template and I didn’t feel anything could of been better in this assignment.

Second Term Start

Second term start


My second term at this college has been a bit harder but I also started to learn my weaknesses and strengths .

Week 1 when I came back I started to make loads of friends and I started to get used to my surroundings in the college I also decided I wanted to stay as I was considering leaving because of travel expenses and time as I was not hitting the nine o clock lessons on time but as the time moved on started to get there on time

At this point I would say that my weakness in lesson is chatting, I don’t think I have been applying myself the way I can in lesson then when I get home I have a pile of work that needs to be done before I can relax and plus I now have work on a Saturday and Sunday so I hardly have time to do it

By this time I realised that something had to change and I needed and organising system so I don’t get behind on my work.

Improvements

For the rest of that term it was all about brushing up on work I also had time to get to know all my class mates and teachers and got to know my weaknesses and strengths in doing my assignment My strengths are doing most of the work in class time and the college library and finishing the work at home.

P2 was the second easiest for me in this presentation I had to speak about the principles of effective communication and the topics I chose was Multicultural differences where I spoke about there boundaries in the workplace, Engaging an audience where I spoke about being fun and asking things like what team do you support to engage and Positive Language.

The techniques I used to complete this is to use appropriate Internet research for the topic and constantly update my bibliography as I feel for this assignment I used the Internet the most but I was still able to put it in my own words I also got research in my class time and then did the assignment at home as because it was a PowerPoint Presentation I had to limit certain things of what I was saying so my presentation doesn’t look to cluttered as I knew will be using this presentation at a later date to give to my class but I still made it effective in what I was saying as I also needed to pass it.

The techniques that worked were me getting my research and updating my bibliography.

How I could improve

What I could of done better is doing some of the work in class time as I feel it could have made me finish the assignment a bit earlier.

As you may not know I am a music and create music myself , I'm only 16 but I am in a process of making b album which was slowly getting on nicely, this week I found that there is a studio right outside to the college so I went there an booked my first session

By now I was in the more swing on things so I knew what I needed  to work on and calculated how much time it would take me.

Assignments are coming

This week I had my first assignment for Ella which was on project planning and I soon found that I’m going to have to write allot just to pass her lesson which was about defining, planning, Implementation and the evaluation process. Which I wrote about 800 words for.

Then I had to explain the resources available to support the project manager which I wrote about, training, equipment, facilities, funding and information and lastly I had to write about monitoring progress.

I had my first assignment with Maura where I had to explain personal attributes valued by employers and the principles of effective communication which I also found ok and how to overcome them was the merit which was the first difficult part of the assignment I had, I soon found that going for the Merits and distinctions it will be considerably harder but all that did is motivate me more to work harder and do well.

All the three other teacher was Luisa Anna o and Ella which I had no assignments for yet and I found Ella’s and Louisa’s lesson quite easy But the lesson I found hardest was procedural programming where I was dreading the first assignment as I had no clue on how to do anything so I stared to ask for extra lessons

The areas I could improve is my timing as I started my new job I now get allot more tired than I used son all i need to do now is go to bed a bit earlier and I should be better

From there I have had 8 assignments one with Anna b about components in a computer and operating systems in Anna by’s work we had to explain components like

Which took me three days at home to do I found it quite easy as a first assignment and fun doing it while listening to music in the comfort of my own home.

 My second assignment I had for Anna b was about the components and features of an operating system where I had to speak about

Then for my M1 I had to compare my operating system with another.

I found this fairly ok as well although it was harder to find the information. 

And as I was starting my new job I did find it hard to find the time to finish it in my own time although I had class time to finish it.

I also got my assignment for maura.

P1 was my favourite part of the assignment as I found it was the easiest, P1 was all about popular and personal skills employers want, in this Leaflet I spoke about

The first thing I spoke about is why communication is effective and how listening and acting on what you are asked to is valued because you can perform the task they want you to do to the best of your ability.

The next thing I spoke about is keeping guidance to a minimal and how employer’s love that this also linked to my first point as if you listen the best you can then you will need minimal guidance. I spoke about how this builds up trust because it means the boss has to spend less time on you.  

The next thing I spoke about is knowing your way around the computer this part was all about telling my audience that you need to be computer literate and how you need to know the basics like logging in and out and research this was all linked to my first two points as this is another way of keeping guidance to a minimal as if you know how to research on the computer you can get information from there other than asking your boss.

Then I spoke about being creative when solving a problem and this was about thinking outside the box which on elaborate more on the second page and I spoke about overcoming objectives in a creative way.      

Then I was speaking about Being Friendly to other employers on this part I touched upon making friends and being peaceful in a workplace also linking back to Being creative as because if you can be creative then you can do two things with it spread it to your team-mates or be creative with them as they can bring fresh ideas to your vision.    

Then I wrote about how Teamwork is Vital and how solving problems together is the best way to do it, and how It’s more about sensitivity and how you need to keep opinions to yourself and planning before you act which is linked with sensitivity as they are both about thinking before you say, then I spoke about leaderships as you need all the previous qualities to be one and adapting to roles and my last two points was about work ethic and a positive attitude. 

I also had to speak about Planning, organising skills and Creativity where I wrote the definition of creativity and the three types Divergent, Convergent and the importance.

How I could improve

The techniques I used that to complete P1 is to Start my work early in class and get as much research as I can in class then finish it all at home, I also do my work for two hours and then take one hour Break so I don’t get bored and distracted by things I also focused on one assignment at a time, I realised that focusing on one assignment at a time is not very effective as I have other assignments to and realised almost ran out of time to do them so after P1 realised to do different assignments on different days and prioritize time,  I completed P1 in about a week

To improve on my work I should make sure everything is done up to standard as if it gets referred it means I create more hassle for myself at college as if I do it great the first time round Ill be more that my way on to success.

My First Week at RUTC

My first week at RUTC

    Day 1

My first week at rutc is exciting but very stressful at the same time my first day was I came organised I got up on time and left my house on time and got to college early this was a good thing as I didn’t really know where my lesson was so it gave me time to search round for it.

My first lesson was with Anna B where she introduced us to the unit we was going to be doing which is called system and maintenance where she told us the

At if we fail this unit we fail the course in other words the course is mandatory.

The second and last lesson I had that day was with Anna O where she taught us How to programme hello world and I feel the lesson could be very interesting as the weeks go on.

I also got my time table and realised because I passed maths and English I have loads of free time so I am going nth see if I can do an AS/A2 on top of my BTEC.

 Day 2

My second day was a bit stressful as I was late for the first time and forgot my college ID so had to get a temporary one. The reason I was late was because I left my house too late as I had to iron my shirt. Although that was the case I told my teacher that I got lost as I thought that would be a better excuse and actually did get lost as well.

When I arrived to the lesson the lesson was an introduction to the unit and this unit was unit 1 communication and work place. The teacher explained that this is an important because you will need something called soft skills to achieve a job or even an interview.

My next lesson was with Anna B again where we cleaned the system we are going to be working on for the rest of the year and learned about BIOS, BIOS is setting you use at your start up where you can change thing in your system and get to nearly everything you need to know about your system. BIOS stand for

Day 3

I came in 15 minutes early on my 3^rd day at college and now I am starting to now the times I need to get out to get to college on time. My first lesson that day I started on this Blog where I set up an account on Blogger but was told to do it in word as word has spell check. My next lesson was more work on visual studio then my last two lessons I had with Ella whom we played with Lego, this was supposed to teach us about teamwork.

 Day 4   

Day 4 is the best day for me as I only have one lesson which is usually based around working on this blog or organising all my units in my folder.

We got introduced to excel and why people use spread sheets.

How I could improve

The way I could improve my time here Is to actually start to learn my route to college everyday and start to get my self into a routine as I will need to get to college on time so my attendance and punctuality does not lack
